Faculty members have long been recognized for their outstanding accomplishments, receiving awards such as the Maine Distinguished Professor Medal (Eric Landis 2004, Habib Dagher 1995, Dana Humphrey 1994), the Carnegie Foundation Award given to the best professor in the State, the Chi Epsilon Excellence in Teaching Award, and best paper awards from three leading technical journals. This tradition of excellence is also reflected in the achievements of civil engineering students, who have also won best paper awards and nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships.
